The Determinants of Non-COVID-19 Excess Deaths During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Cross-country Panel Study

This paper examines the determinants of non-COVID excess deaths during COVID pandemic between January and June 2020. These are extra occurring which not directly attributable to COVID. While emerging literature deaths, few look at though early estimates suggest they enough be seen as a in their own count. We investigate impact factors including cases, lockdown stringency, economic support search intensity for conditions on using Fixed Effects GMM estimations. also use quantile regression assess differential impacts variables different stages death distribution. First, we find that increasing concave rate growth, well level, has significant positive impact. Second, some evidence stringency increases by maximum 16 per-million population.
